What is a custom-made single-phase transformer?
A custom-made single-phase transformer is an EI-core (laminated E/I) transformer whose primary and secondary windings are dimensioned precisely according to your requirements. It allows any single-phase voltage to be adapted to one or several output voltages, at the exact power required by your application.
The custom-made version goes further: you freely define the input voltage, the output voltage level(s), the power, the protection rating (IP00 to IP54), the connection type (terminals, lugs, cables or flying wires) and additional options. ABL Transfo has been manufacturing your transformers in its French workshops for over 30 years.
Every custom-made single-phase transformer undergoes rigorous testing at the end of the production line: dielectric strength, no-load and on-load voltage measurements, compliance with EN 61558.

Low-loss laminations
EI magnetic laminations with low losses (1W7 or 0W6 depending on power) for maximum efficiency and controlled operating temperature.
Class H winding
Round enamelled copper wire, Class H. Inter-layer and inter-winding insulants compliant with current standards. Varnish or resin impregnation depending on application.
EN 61558 testing
Each custom-made single-phase transformer is tested at end of line: dielectric strength, no-load and on-load voltages, EN 61558 compliance.
IP00 to IP54
Protection rating selectable in product variations: IP00 (enclosure), IP23 (dust protection) or IP54 (water projection protection from all directions).
Flexible outputs
Screw terminals (standard), lugs, cables or flying wires. The connection type adapts to your mechanical integration.

What is a custom-made single-phase transformer and why order one?
A custom-made single-phase transformer is manufactured specifically to your requirements: input voltage, output voltage(s), power, protection rating, connection type. It is essential when standard products do not match your input voltage, exact power or mechanical integration constraints.
What is the difference between an isolation transformer and a custom-made transformer?
An isolation transformer guarantees full galvanic separation between primary and secondary — recommended for safety-critical applications (medical, ATEX, SELV). A custom-made single-phase transformer can be an isolation transformer, but also simply a voltage adaptation transformer. The "custom-made" term refers to the fact that parameters are configured to your needs.
How do I choose the power of my custom-made single-phase transformer?
Add up the total consumption of the powered equipment (in VA or W). If in watts, divide by the power factor cos φ (0.8 for most inductive loads). Add 20 to 30% margin for start-up peaks. Then choose the immediately higher nominal power in the configurator. If in doubt, contact our technical team for free sizing within 24h.
Which output type should I choose for my transformer?
Screw terminals (default, included): connection by rigid or flexible cables, ideal for enclosures and switchboards. Lugs: crimp connection to PCB or connector. Cables: pre-wired outputs of a specified length. Flying wires: bare wires for self-wiring. Cables and wires are available as an option (+30€).
What is the lead time for a custom-made single-phase transformer?
Production lead time is 1 to 3 weeks from order validation. Each unit is produced specifically — it cannot be returned or exchanged once in production. For urgent orders or large quantities, contact us directly.
Is my custom-made single-phase transformer standards-compliant?
Yes. Each ABL Transfo custom-made single-phase transformer is manufactured and tested in compliance with EN 61558. End-of-line tests include dielectric strength, no-load and on-load voltage measurements. Inter-layer and inter-winding insulants comply with current standards.
