What is the difference between a 24V toroidal transformer and a standard EI 24V transformer?
The 24V toroidal transformer uses an annular magnetic core without an air gap: it is more compact, quieter, lighter and offers efficiency ≥ 95%. The classic EI transformer (laminated E/I core) is less efficient and noisier. For applications in living spaces or tight enclosures, the 24V toroidal transformer is the natural choice.
Can this 24V toroidal transformer be used in continuous service?
Yes. All our 24V toroidal transformers are designed for continuous S1 duty — 24h/24 operation without time limitation. Unlike intermittent models, our toroids remain permanently connected without risk of overheating at nominal power.
Is the 24V toroidal transformer suitable for LED lighting?
Yes, provided your LEDs are designed for 24 VAC (alternating current). Most industrial 24V LED strips and drivers are compatible with 24 VAC. For 24 VDC (direct current) LED strips, add a rectifier bridge downstream of the 24V toroidal transformer.
How do I choose the right power for my 24V toroidal transformer?
Add up the total consumption of your 24 VAC equipment (in VA or W/cos φ), then add 20 to 30% margin for start-up peaks. For motors, allow 3 to 7× their nominal current at start-up. A 1,000 VA 24V toroidal transformer is typically suitable for an 800W resistive industrial control panel.
