The tip is the part that carries heat from the iron to the joint. Our replacement tips are designed for the SAMS soldering irons of the same power:
Why an angled copper tip?
Copper is an excellent conductor of heat: the tip passes the iron’s energy to the work quickly, so you can solder fast without overheating nearby components. Its angled, bevelled shape concentrates the heat on one point and reaches joints in tight corners with good precision.
Care and replacement
- Wipe the tip regularly on a damp cloth while you work.
- Keep it tinned: a thin layer of solder protects the copper from oxidation.
- Replace it once it no longer wets with solder or is pitted, always with the iron unplugged and cold.
