Custom-built transformers made to your specification

Four configurators for your custom transformer

When none of our standard models matches your voltages, we build a custom transformer to your specification, as a one-off or in batches. Each configurator calculates the price of your bespoke transformer as you make your choices:

• Custom single-phase transformer: from 63 VA to 20 kVA, in IP00, IP23 or IP54.
• Custom three-phase transformer: your own voltages, priced online from 1 to 100 kVA; above that, on request, up to 1,000 kVA.
• Custom toroidal transformer: from 50 VA to 2 kVA, also wound in our Gailhan workshop.
• Custom autotransformer, reversible: from 100 VA to 5 kVA, when galvanic isolation is not required.

What you can specify

• Voltages: input and output voltages of your choice, within the range of each configurator.
• Windings: up to six primaries and seven secondaries on the single-phase model, six of each on the toroidal.
• Tappings: ±5 % or ±10 %, or ±5 V or ±10 V, on the single-phase model; ±5 % or ±10 % on the three-phase.
• Power and IP rating: IP00, IP23 or IP54 for single-phase and three-phase units, IP00 or IP68 for the toroidal.
• Connections: screw terminals, cable lugs, cables or flying leads, depending on the model; cables, a terminal block or sockets on the autotransformer.
• Options: vector group on three-phase units, such as the Dyn11 of our standard models, circuit breakers, a thermostat on the toroidal, and an audio version of the single-phase and toroidal models.

Screw terminals are fitted up to 55 A; above that, connection is made on cable lugs. Thermal protection can be added on request.

How a bespoke order works

1. Configure: choose the type, then enter your voltages and the power rating; the price is displayed.
2. Order online, or send us your configuration with a quote request: we reply within 48 h.
3. Manufacturing: from 48 h to one week, depending on the power rating; every custom-wound transformer is tested before it leaves.
4. Delivery: dispatched from France; high-power units travel on a pallet.

Custom transformer or standard model: which do you need?

Before configuring, check whether a standard model exists: it is dispatched from France within 24 to 48 h, or within 3 to 6 working days for a three-phase unit. Our single-phase transformers cover the usual voltages from 12 to 400 V, our three-phase transformers 400, 230 and 208 V, our toroidal transformers 12 and 24 V, and our autotransformers 230 V ↔ 120 V. A custom electrical transformer takes over when you need an unusual voltage, several secondaries, a tapping or fixed dimensions.

Not to be confused with an instrument transformer: a current or voltage transformer is used to measure a current or a voltage for a meter or a protection relay. We build custom power transformers, in other words transformers made to your voltages and your power rating. Wound and 100 % tested in Gailhan, France

ABL Transfo is a custom transformer manufacturer based in Gailhan, in the Gard, between Nîmes and Montpellier in southern France, and has been making transformers there since 1993. Our custom single-phase, three-phase and toroidal transformers and our custom autotransformers are wound and 100 % tested in this workshop.

Depending on the voltage you specify, EN 61558-2-4 (separating transformers) or EN 61558-2-6 (safety isolating transformers, up to 50 V) applies. For professionals, a trade account shows prices excluding VAT with a 5 % discount, and white-label supply is possible.
