Good to know

Flux-cored solder wire

Our solder wire reel is a 1.5 mm tin-lead 50/50 wire (Sn50Pb50, designated “B. Sn50 Pb” in French standard NF C 90-550), made from primary tin and lead. Its core holds a natural rosin flux (type CR, class 2) that cleans the surfaces as you solder, so no extra flux is needed for everyday work. It melts between 183 and 216 °C and is used with an iron at 370 to 420 °C.

  • 250 g reel, sold singly or in packs of 5, 10, 50 and 100;
  • suits all our soldering irons, from 50 to 500 W;
  • storage: 12 months at room temperature, protected from the weather.

Precautions

This solder contains lead: work in a ventilated room, wash your hands afterwards and clean off flux residues after soldering. If you manufacture electronic equipment for sale, check the RoHS requirements, which generally call for lead-free solder. Our full soldering range is in the soldering equipment category.

Frequently asked questions

Which solder should I use?

For electronics and wiring, a flux-cored wire such as our 1.5 mm Sn50Pb50 solder: it flows easily and cleans the joint.

What is the melting point of this solder?

It melts between 183 and 216 °C; its data sheet recommends an iron temperature of 370 to 420 °C.

Do I need extra flux?

Not for everyday work: the wire has a rosin flux core. Clean off residues after soldering.

Can I order in bulk?
